Vacu Braze continues to invest in not only equipment, but the people who help our organization move forward. Two of our engineers have attended and completed the Essentials of Production Brazing course through Kay & Associates Brazing Consultants. During this time they attended a three day intensive seminar in Simsbury CT, focused on the specifics of joint design, braze alloy selection, and the metallurgy involved in brazing.

Brazing is the practice of joining metals using a filler metal above the temperature of 450 °C. The composition of the brazing filler metal (BFM) can be altered to fit the end use conditions of any given part. A range of BFMs from nearly pure copper to active brazing alloys high in titanium or zirconium have been developed to provide excellent wettability and compatibility of multiple materials.
A myriad of methods can be used to facilitate melting of a BFM. Some of the factors that determine which brazing method used include geometry complexity, quantity, and material. For a very complex assembly with strict surface finish requirements, vacuum furnace brazing may be the best path forward while induction or torch brazing may be perfect in another scenario.
